February is Relationship Wellness Month
One request that we received via email was for ideas of different and out of the box activities that a social group could participate in each month. The staff put our heads together and have found a list of “theme days” that could put your creative minds to work. Apparently just about every single day of the year in a national “something” day, so we’ve decided to share them with you each month. Every month also carries an overall theme nationally, so we are adapting this into some of our blogs in 2016.
February Theme: Relationship Wellness Month.
What a perfect time of year to focus on personal relationships with Valentines Day just days away! While February 14 is a little overdone sometimes with hearts and chocolate and high expectations, it is still very important to get to the meaning of the day and examine and improve all of the personal relationships in your life.
Relationship wellness is mostly focused on the overall “health” of the relationship with your significant other; however, its not a bad idea to build good skills and habits within relationships with friends and family as well. Take a moment to think about some of the most important relationships in your life. Do you put yourself first alot or think of others more? How do you treat others? How do those important people around you receive love? How do you receive love, and do others know this about you? (a good resource for this is The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman) There was a live radio show last night where Angie Harvey discussed the meaning behind the love languages, email us at [email protected] if you would like us to send you a link to the show. However you plan on celebrating the month, we hope that you concentrate on the importance of having successful and meaningful relationships.
